I had an amazing time spreading the word about upcycling and repurposing and the Longview Festival this weekend in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. I’m pretty sure mymessage was loud & clear…I hope these upcycling ideas give you a idea on things that you can create for your own home.
It was all about Junk Rescue!

I was able to proudly display items I have rescued from garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores, dumpsters and curbs to name a few.

I used 2 upcycled wood doors for the center walls of my booth and flanked each side with old screen doors that were repurposed into a
organization centers.

I love using drawers as shelves. I painted them all sorts of fun colors to add a little whimsy to my booth. I incorporated on of my
fabric art panels inside the green drawer.
The yellow drawer holds some of the treasures I have found over the years. It is funny how I can’t remember an item I need at the grocery store but I can remember when and where I found each of these items.

The blue drawer holds an old “oven rack turned brag board” where I proudly displayed my
Maker Faire Blue Ribbon.
The orange drawers is the perfect place for my distressed glass vase, some old books, a leather-bound tape measure and some vintage door knobs.

Last but not least is the adorable pink drawer. I didn’t want to cover up too much of the color so I simply added a small piece of milk glass, a silver tray and one of my
industrial letters.

I added a vintage luggage rack and a couple of old suitcases to the mix. I then adorned them with an old toaster and an adorable glass holder a.k.a. (Mr. Puppy).

The other side of the booth held one of my
decorative orbs and an end table made from a bar stool.

Then for my table…
First I covered it in leftover burlap from my brother’s wedding. Then I began to sit out things I love. I started with the Tire Ottoman.

Next is the
serving tray made from a cabinet door. Then my
personalized candle, my
photo coasters, my
photo blocks and a wine bottle I covered in twine.

Front and center was my “
Kids Recycling Inventors Box“. I love watching the kids come up to it and immediately start using their imaginations.
Next on the table is some String Art. That is such a fun project to do with your kids!

And last but certainly not least, one of my favorite projects, an adorable
storage crate turned footstool/or extra seating. We featured this project in a Dorm Room craft segment and it was a hit!
Thank you for joining me today and allowing me to take you on trip through memory lane. I have enjoyed making each and every one of the projects to saw here today. I hope I have inspired you to find something “left behind” and turn it into your own special treasure ♥
