I love a good knock-off! I mean who doesn’t love to save money? And you all know I love a good challenge! When I saw these West-Elm spheres (decorative orbs) I had no doubt that I could create them for a fraction of the cost. I have to be honest, these are beautiful and may be even better then the ones you find in stores!

Decorative Orbs Supplies:
- 2 embroidery hoop sets per sphere – note: one hoop set contains 2 hoops so 2 sets equal 4 hoops
- Spray paint or stain – I used Minwax dark walnut stain
- Thumb tacks or upholstery tacks
Decorative Orbs Instructions:
Step 1) Separate the 2 hoop sets so that all 4 hoops are laying on the table.
Step 2) Using a foam brush stain hoops or spray paint them. Let dry.
Step 3) Begin Orb by interlocking the 2 hoops that have the tightening mechanism.
Step 4) Now slide the other 2 hoops inside the first 2 and move them around until they look like a sphere.
Step 5) Attach thumb tacks at each intersecting point to hold them in place.
How easy was that? Now you have your very own West Elm Orbs that you’ve made for a fraction of the cost and in a color that will match your home decor. Looking for something to add to your sphere-scape? Try these DIY Jute Balls! They are just as easy!
