How to Make a Serving Tray Out of an Old Cabinet Door

You all know how much I love a good repurposing project right?  Well making a cabinet door serving tray ranks up there with one of my favorites.

 You can ALWAYS find used cabinet doors at The ReStore.  Don’t overlook them because their showing a little wear and tear.  With some TLC and a couple of coats of paint you will have a serving tray fit for a king!

Cabinet Door Serving Tray Supplies:

• Old Cabinet door (you can usually pick these up at a thrift store for a couple of dollars)
• Sanding Block
• Latex paint in color of choice
• Cabinet hardware
• Cabinet hardware template
• Drill
• Drill bit large enough for the hardware screw
• Putty knife
• Bondo
• Krud Kutter
  

Cabinet Door Serving Tray Instructions:

Step 1)   Fill original cabinet knob holes with Bondo and let dry.  This stuff is amazing.  I use it on almost every project I paint.

Step 2) Sand entire cabinet door using sanding block
Step 3) Clean your cabinet door well with Krud Kutter or dishwashing soap & water
Step 4)  Using the cabinet hardware template, drill new holes on top of cabinet door for the cabinet pulls.  This template takes all of the guess work out of drilling new holes.

Step 5)  Apply 2 coats of Latex Paint in color of choice and allow to fully dry in between coats

Step 6) Attach the cabinet pulls
