If you are anything like me you’ve got stuff everywhere in your shop! I just accumulate things because I’m simply afraid that if I “toss it” I’ll need it for a project sooner or later. And let’s face it….I don’t toss! This Upcycled Hardware Storage came to me with my whole Organizing thing I’ve got going on for myself this year.

Upcycled Hardware Storage

So if you are just now joining me here at DivaofDIY.com I’ve really been working harder at organizing. I made it my New Years Resolution and I think I’ve done a lot better than in years past. I mean I’ve even completed a few projects for myself (which is rare, I’m usually doing them for everyone else!):

and I’ve even created my very own Projects to Complete Card that I have in my shop. This helps me to stay organized with the projects that I’m needing to complete for the week.

It’s more often than not that I’m in my shop and I’m looking for a certain size nail, screw, anchor and everything in between. I came up with this idea for a Upcycled Hardware Storage “rack” so that I’m able to grab it and essentially have the hardware be organized…and stay that way!

Let’s get you started!

The first step is to drill 2 holes in each lid and attach to your cabinet door. Did you know that you can find cabinet doors at the ReStore? It’s where I tend to find all of mine and a tip that others never knew! If you haven’t been to your local ReStore you should go…today!hardware organizer pic 2

While you have your drill out, let’s attach the handles. You can do this easy by utilizing a Laurey Hardware Template. You can lay your handle on the top of the template and mark holes using a marker/pencil with the holes that line up with your handle.

Once you have your holes mark, drill holes for your handles and attach. You’ll want the handles to be on the top side of your cabinet door.

This is how your project should look this far! See the two screws on the top and bottom…those are the for handles! Now tie the rope to the handles and hang. Attach your mason jar to their lids and you are off to the races!Underneath Upcycled Hardware StorageThis is looking at it from underneath to give you a idea of how it should look.

Now you can also use this to store ribbons, sewing supplies, coloring supplies and so much more.
