Hi! My name is Leanne Lee, Diva of DIY. I’m so glad that you are here! Earlier in the year I told ya’ll my New Years Resolution Was to Get Organized…well this DIY Receipt Organizer is my first step in the right direction!
I stopped by Michaels Craft Store to pick up a couple of unfinished crates for my Rolling Toy Storage project {I’ll share that in the coming days!} and ran across a sale on these photo storage boxes 5/$10.00 or $2.00 each.
They had all types of cute designs but this particular one caught my eye because it had a chalkboard sticker on it. Â Anyone who knows me knows I love anything with a chalkboard! It just makes everything so much fun!
My mind immediately started racing at all of the storage options for these boxes (besides photos):
- Legos
- Headbands, Barrettes & Hair Bows
- Art Supplies
- Matchbox Cars
- Make-up
- Office Supplies
- Toys for the car
- and on and on and on
I loved the fact that I could change out the purpose of the box by simply erasing the label and writing something different.
And then it hit me like a beacon in the night…A RE-USABLE RECEIPT ORGANIZER! Being that my husband and I run multiple businesses we need to keep track of all the spending. It’s an easy thing to do just to wad all the receipts up in the glove box for them to fall out when I’m trying to grab a napkin to blow my damn nose. So this Receipt Organizer was the way to solve this problem.
Supplies
- Photo Storage Box with chalkboard sticker from Michaels Craft Store
- A sharp pair of Scissors, a box knife or other cutting tool
- Roseart Chalk
Simply cut a whole in the top of the box to hold all of the receipts for one month. Â At the end of the month, transfer the receipts to a large envelope with a clasp labeled with the month & year.
To begin a new month, take a damp cloth and wipe off the label and write in the new month. This was such an easy solution to my endless receipt dilema that I made one for my home, my office and my car. You should see the smile on my face…I am so proud of myself! Â Every day I get a little closer to being “ORGANIZED” and it feels amazing!
How are you doing on your quest to become more organized?
