This year I am decorating my home with all things handmade. I’m using natural materials such as these burlap flowers, pine cones, and grapevine for a rustic farmhouse feel.
A farmhouse style is comfortable, cozy and inviting and these handmade burlap flowers will be the perfect addition to my decor.

Burlap Flower Supplies:
- Burlap (I buy this from the gardening section
)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Extra Glue Sticks
- Small Pine Cones
- Glitter
- Mod Podge
- Small Paint Brush
Handmade Burlap Flower Instructions:
Begin by cutting your burlap into the following sizes:
- Small Flower: 2″ x 4′
- Medium Flower: 4″ x 5′
- Large Flower: 6″ x 6′
Step 1) Place a strip of hot glue one inch from one of the ends of the burlap strip.
Step 2) Fold over the edge of the burlap onto the hot glue and hold down until it dries (maybe 5 seconds). I used clothespins for this so I wouldn’t burn my fingers.
Step 3) Move to the opposite end of the burlap strip (the end that isn’t glued). Find a thread that is located approximately 1/3 to one side and start pulling.
Step 4) Keep pulling until you reach the end with the glue. Notice how it starts to curl into a natural flower shape.
Step 5) Secure the flower shape with hot glue.
Step 6) Hold it into place until it dries. Set it aside.
Step 7) Add glitter to your pine cones. Using a small paint brush, apply mod podge to the ends of the pine cone. Sprinkle with glitter. Let dry.
Step 8) Cover the bottom of the glittered pine cone with hot glue. Quickly press into top of your burlap flower.
Step 9) Hold in place until set.
That is it! These handmade burlap flowers are easy, inexpensive and beautiful.
And here is one on my tree…I’m in love.
