Choosing the perfect color scheme for your home can be a daunting task. I have helped hundreds of homeowners select colors for their homes but for some reason picking the color scheme for my lake house fixer upper has been especially difficult.
After looking at color decks until I was blue in the face, I decided to take the advice I give my clients…”Find an inspiration piece and select your colors from it”. This could be a pillow, a bedspread, a piece of art, a placemat or even a colorful vase. In my case, it is a swatch of fabric.
I stumbled upon this fabric at Old Time Pottery. I was immediately drawn to the colors and the pattern and knew I had found my inspiration piece.
The rest was a piece of cake!
Here is the color scheme I have chosen for my lake house:

I am also going to add some mixed metals in the design: aged gold, bronze and a splash of nickel will all look amazing with my colors.
Now this color scheme may seem a bit drab but I promise there will be a lot of surprises tucked into this design. I am creating some amazing wall treatments using wood…I can’t wait to share them with you.
