Pallet Wood Sign Instructions:
Step 1) Begin by cutting 3-6 pallet boards the same length. This length depends on the size of your project. I cut 4 boards 24″ long.
Step 2) Cut 2 more pallet boards long enough to fit across your first boards.
Step 3) Screw these into the back of the pallet wood to hold them together making sure you put a screw in each board. I cut these 2 boards 17″ long.
Step 4) Paint the frames for each picture. I scored these 3 little wooden frames at Michael’s Craft Store on clearance in the fall for .33 cents a piece. I had no ideas at the time what I would use them for but I knew they were cute, unfinished wooden frames and they wouldn’t last long in my shop! They were perfect for this pallet wood sign!
I painted them with Americana Calypso Blue acrylic craft paint.
DIVA TIP: Can’t find this unfinished frame? Use any small frames for this project. Or make your own with popsicle sticks. The idea here is to make it your own!
Step 5) Next, I took the Calypso Blue and White Acrylic Paint and started painting, think grade school writing. Now I am a “fly by the seat of my pants” painter so I just started painting but you could definitely grab a pencil at this stage of the game and sketch it out. Or you could use stencils.
I personally don’t think it needs to be perfect but seriously…to each his own. I just want to inspire you. You will notice that I ended up adding a little white to my blue heart and my photo frames. I thought this added an extra layers of depth.
Step 6) Voila…all that is left is to add photos. I am using photos of my 3 babies. I know, I know…the twins are almost 14 and my oldest is 16 but they will always be my babies.
I am so in love with this project. I call it my “Fairy Tale” art. Remember when you were in school and would doodle X+Y=♥ in your notebooks? Well…that is what this signifies for me. I met my soulmate, fell in love, and had 3 beautiful babies…The End!
