Pallet Words: How to Easily Personalize Your Decor

Have I ever mentioned how much I love pallets? I love pallets as much as Joanna Gaines loves shiplap lol. This pallet word project uses free wood and can be completed in as little as an hour…woohoo!  I made this one for my Lake House Fixer Upper.  I can’t wait to start decorating it.

Pallet Lake Word Supplies:

  • (4) 48″ Pallet Boards
  • 1  5/8″ Wood Screws
  • Wood Glue
  • Drill
  • Pilot Hole Drill Bit
  • Nail Gun (optional)
  • 1.5″ Brad Nails (optional)
  • Mitre Saw

 Pallet Lake Word Cut List:

To make the “L”

  • Cut 1 board to 24″ with straight edges
  • Cut 1 board to 11.75″ with straight edges

To make the “A”

  • Cut 1 board 23″ with one straight edge and one edge cut at a 22.5 degree angle
  • Cut 1 board 23.5″ with one straight edge and one edge cut at a 22.5 degree angle
  • Cut 1 board 11″ with 22.5 degree angles on each end

To make the “K”

  • Cut 1 board 24″ with straight edges
  • Cut 1 board 17.5″ with 22.5″ angles on each end

To make the “E”

  • Cut 1 board 24″ with straight edges
  • Cut 2 boards 7.5″ with straight edges
  • Cut 1 board 7″ with straight edges

To cut 22.5 degree angles with your mitre saw, simply turn your blade until you set it to 22.5″

Pallet Lake Word Instructions:

Step 1)  Begin with the “L” and work your way down.  The “L” is super easy…secure the vertical board to the horizontal board using your wood glue and wood screws

Step 2)  Attach the 2 angles of the “A” to the lower section of the “L”.  Secure them with wood glue and wood screws them attach the center cross-section.  Once again…secure them with screws.

Step 3)  The “K” is super simple.  Start by attaching the 17.5″ piece with the 2 angle cuts to the 24″ piece from the “K” and the 24″ piece from the “E”. Attach the leg of the “A” to the 17.5″ piece.  Secure it all with wood glue and wood screws.

Step 4)  Attach the 3 small boards to the 24″ board.  Secure with wood glue and wood screws.

That’s it!  Isn’t that easy???  I cannot wait to hang this at my new lake house.

I know building a “lake” sign isn’t for everyone so I added a bonus template/cut list for the word “HOME”

This sign only requires straight and 22.5 degree cuts as well.  Have fun with it and use this idea to make your own words.
