  1. Remove furniture hardware from doors and/or drawers (these are the cabinet knobs and/or pulls) with a drill or screwdriver (if applicable)
  2. Remove doors and drawers with a drill or screwdriver. If you have more than 2 doors or drawers, label them so you know where they go when you are finished painting. (if applicable)
  3. Place all of the furniture hardware including screws and any brackets in a plastic Ziploc bag and mark “SAVE”
  4. Lay out a canvas drop cloth, rosin paper or plastic down on your work surface. You will need to have enough room to work on all sides of the piece of furniture so make sure your space is big enough to accommodate a space for the frame of your furniture piece and another space for the doors and/or drawers.
  5. Place furniture pieces on your drop cloth, rosin paper or plastic…
  6. Lightly sand all pieces with 220-grit sandpaper. The goal here is not to remove all of the paint/stain but to lightly etch the surface.
  7. Wipe down all pieces with a dish soap/water mixture to remove the sanding dust and any grease and grime at the same time. Let air dry.
  8. Mix your Chalk-Style Paint (according to the recipe on your package)
  9. Apply 1 coat of your chalk paint mixture to the furniture frame, doors and/or drawers. Let dry 1 hour.  Lightly buff with your 220-grit sand paper or medium sanding block.
  10. Repeat step #9 if necessary.
  11. Lightly sand the edges if desired.
  12. Wax or clear coat to finish.
