After making the October frame calendar my mind just went crazy with all the other things that could be made with some of the same supplies! These $1.00 frames rank as one of my favorite Halloween decorations for this year.  Why?  Well, not because they are fancy by any means but because they are unique and  incorporate things I already had so…how much did this project cost me??? $1.08  woohoo!!!

Instructions for these Halloween Decorations:

Step 1) Paint frame with black acrylic paint or black chalkboard paint. Let dry.

Step 2) Cut the metal lathe with tin snips to fit the frame opening

Step 3) Attach the metal lathe to the back of the frame with a staple gun, making sure not to cover the easel hole.

Step 4) Add spider webbing to the wire lathe on the back of the frame.

Step 5) Using the Sizzix wordplay die cut, cut out the word “October” in orange cardstock.

Step 6) Glue the cardstock word to the frame making sure that the easel hole is on the bottom! Yep I’ve goofed a couple times and learned the hard way to make sure you are not doing your frame upside-down!

*Diva tip: If you do not have a sizzix machine you can use orange stickers or an orange paint pen to write “October”.

Step 7) Paint two tag shaped wooden shapes with gray acrylic paint and using a paint brush fleck them with white paint. Now you have 2 gravestones. Let dry.

Step 6) Write “RIP” with a sharpie marker on the large tag and “31” on the smaller tag.

Step 7) Glue them to the frame as shown in the picture.

Step 8) Paint the circle wooden shape with chalkboard paint. (spray paint or brush on). Let dry.

Step 9) Glue a no sew curtain clip or small bull clip to the frame as shown in the picture.

Step 10) Write the number of days left until Halloween on the circle shape with chalk and clip it to the clip on the frame.

Now each day the circle can be taken off and the countdown begins! What a fun way to get the kids involved and help you from answering that dreaded question… Is it Halloween yet?
