Did you love the embroidery hoop wall art that was created on Restaurant: Impossible Holiday Special at the Double H Ranch? I was honored to create the focal point in the hall. Using a drop cloth and wooden embroidery hoops we were able to personalize this wall to match the other decor. This look can be re-created by any Diva of DIY with just a few simple tools and steps.

If you’ve been a DivaofDIY.com follower for awhile you may recall my Pumpkin Home Decor with Embroidery Hoops creation I did a few months ago. This project was inspired by that DIY project.

The wall art made from embroidery hoops and a Harbor Freight drop cloth was the perfect solution to brighten this dark dreary room. Not to mention it added some much needed life back into it! This wall was made of authentic stone so we didn’t want to drill into it or paint it.  Luckily, we were able to drill a 1″ x 2″ board above the stone to hold our artwork. Usually I just hang these on the wall but hanging them with string from the 1×2 added some movement and fun!

Wall Art Instructions:

Step 1) Begin by laying out the drop cloth and then arranging as many embroidery hoops.

Step 2) Draw about 1″ outside the embroidery hoop with a pencil. This will give you enough slack in the fabric to feed it through the hoop.

Step 3) Remove your hoops once you have them all traced.

Step 4) Cut all of your circles out using a pair of sharp scissors. Try and use the same scissors on fabric and don’t use on paper it’ll keep them sharper longer!

Step 5) Once you have your stack of circles, iron them all so that they lay flat.

Step 6) Take all of your embroidery hoops outside, separate them and spray paint them with Rustoleum Spray Paint in coordinating colors that match your homes (or restaurants!) decor. Let dry.

Step 7) Using acrylic paint in colors to match your decor. Paint some a solid color and others paint using a stencil to add a pattern. Let dry. We repeated our wall stencil pattern on some of the drop cloth circles using our Royal Design Studio stencils and then painted the other drop cloth circles in the Sherwin Williams paint colors we used for our stenciled wall projects.

Step 8) Cut out circles and iron decorative fabric for some of the hoops if desired.

Step 9) Put fabric over small hoop piece and cover with larger hoop piece and draw fabric tight as you close the hoop pieces together. Trim fabric excess if needed.

Step 10) Hang and enjoy. At the ranch the hoops were hung by fishing line from eye hook that were screwed into the 1″ x 2″ board above the stone. They look like they are floating!

This is another super easy and inexpensive project. I was so pleased with how well it filled the space and brightened the room.
