You know I am always looking for a way to recycle or repurpose something right? It doesn’t matter if I am looking for something big like furniture or something small like a photo frame, my go-to shops have always been thrift stores, garage sales, and flea markets.  It is only after I have exhausted those options that I buy new.

I now have a new go-to for gently-used furniture and accessories…CORT Furniture Rental & Clearance Center.

When I visited the store in my area I immediately noticed 2 things:  1)  I was greeted at the front door with a smile and 2) This store did not smell like a discount furniture store.  Both of these characteristics seem rare in the secondhand industry, but the latter was a game-changer for me.

I asked about “the lack of attic smell” and they offered to let me see their warehouse. They clean and sterilize all of their furniture (including mattresses) with a product called Steri-Fab.  Even the warehouse had a clean smell…I was thoroughly impressed.  I have been to thrift stores where mattresses have been brought off of the truck, sprayed with Febreze and placed on the sales floor…yuck!

On the other side of the warehouse is the repair area.  Items that are returned damaged are repaired before they are cleaned.  Once repaired and sterilized, they are wrapped in plastic to keep them clean and dust-free until they are delivered or placed on the showroom floor.  To top it off, all items that leave the clearance showroom are CORT Certified.  This means that CORT guarantees if any product purchased from our Clearance Center is found to be defective within 90 days of purchase, it will be repaired or replaced.

The store was divided into 2 sections:  the Furniture Rental section and the Clearance Center section.  I was there visiting the Clearance Center.

This is not your typical used furniture store.  They had well-designed vignettes displaying their furniture for sale.  You can buy the pieces in groups for a group price or individually.

I fell in love with these matching shelf units but hubby gave me strict orders…no more furniture! LOL

As I was looking through the items in the Clearance Center, I spotted a section called BIG BARGAINS.  Anyone who follows my blog knows that I was drawn to that sign like flies on poo. LOL

The Big Bargain section was chocked full of furniture, TVs, lamps, lamp shades, small appliances, vacuums, and artwork.  I was drawn to the artwork, not for the art itself but for the frame.

I found these pictures with an oversized frame for $29.99/each.  There is no way I would be able to buy a frame like this for under $100 a piece.  They will be perfect for my oldest son’s senior picture…I am so excited.
