Personalized Mugs and Plates-DIY Gifts

With the holidays quickly approaching there is no better time to get started on crafting your DIY gifts. Leanne Lee, the Diva of DIY demonstrates how to make these DIY Gifts-personalized mugs and plates.

Personalized Plates and Mugs
Supplies you will need for this project:
Martha Stewart Glass Paint in Gloss Opaque finish (in color of choice)*
Martha Stewart Adhesive stencils
DecoArt glass paint markers (in color of choice)
Ceramic Mugs
Ceramic Plates
Rubbing Alcohol

1) Clean mugs and plates with rubbing alcohol to remove oils.
2) Decorate as desired. Let dry

Depending on which paint you use, follow the instructions for curing time (see below)

*The reason I love the Martha Stewart paints are because you can either let them air cure or bake them to speed up the curing process. This gives me the option to paint on plastic or other surfaces that can’t be baked.

DecoArt Glass Paint Marker:
Dry 4 hours before baking for hand-washing or dry 8 hours before baking for dishwasher safe. Bake at 375 degrees F for 40 min in non-preheated oven.

Gloss Opaque Glass Paint:
Paint is permanent after air drying 21 days or can be baked to expedite permanence. Bake method: Let
project air dry 1 hour, place in cool oven. Set temperature to 350 degrees F and bake for 30 minutes
(glass must heat gradually). After 30 minutes, turn oven off. Let glass cool completely in oven. Wait 72 hours before using.
