I love this time of year and one of my favorite activities to do with my family is making our own homemade Christmas decorations.  This year my theme is rustic farmhouse with a side of modern.  Yep…I just made that up but it describes my decorating style perfectly.

I am incorporating a lot of burlap,  pine cones, mercury glass,  pallet wood, and metallics (mostly silver and gold). Making your own homemade Christmas decorations doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. I have put together 10 of my favorite tutorials to share with you. There is something for everyone!

Rustic Christmas Tree Handmade Ornaments

Homemade Christmas decorations are the perfect addition to any Christmas decor! These DIY ornaments are great for a farmhouse look and ornaments for kids!

Which one is your favorite?  I have two favorites this year:  the pallet snowflakes and the burlap poinsettias.  The snowflakes are just one of my many pallet projects.  You know I love using pallet wood because it’s free and so easy to work with. You can see my other pallet projects here.  The poinsettias are so beautiful and cost a fraction of what they cost in the store.  Made with burlap, liquid starch and glitter, these beauties can be customized to your color scheme.  They look beautiful nestled in a tree, tucked in basket with greenery and pine cones or wired onto our handmade burlap wreath.

I hope these projects have inspired you to make some of your own homemade Christmas decorations.  Use one of the 10 ideas I have provided above or come up with something completely different.  Either way, have fun creating handmade and heartfelt memories with your family that will last a lifetime.

Don’t forget to Pin these homemade Christmas decorations!
